The Specialized Chisel is an XC mountain bike for those on a budget. It’s light enough to race with and will still leave some change left over for entry fees. The low weight can be attributed to Specialized’s D’Aluisio Smartweld technology which moves the hydroformed tube joints away from the areas of the highest stress. That way the welds require less material and frame stiffness can be tuned more easily for a great ride feel. The geometry is up-to-date, with a 68-degree head tube angle and there’s compatibility with internally routed dropper posts.
The SRAM SX/NX Eagle 1×12 drivetrain gives plenty of gear range for cranking up steep climbs and flying down the descents. The RockShox Judy air-sprung fork is adjustable to the rider’s weight and riding style with air pressure, compression and rebound damping. Baking is taken care of by SRAM Level Ts, which are lightweight and reliable with great modulation.
If you’re after a step up from your first MTB, or want to get more from your cross-country riding on a tight budget, then the Chisel Comp is for you.
