Specialized introduced the Diverge to cater to the adventurer. Someone who wanted to ride near or far, ride fast (or slow), ride efficiently, ride with lots of gear (or none at all), ride on road, and off road, and on tracks and trails without names. It’s a bike designed for anything and everything, whether that’s commuting to work, or setting off to cycle round the world.
Versatility is key to the Diverge, which is why it was designed with clearance for wide tyres, so if you plan on riding off road, you can fit good off road tyres on without resorting to a mountain bike. For the same reason, it gets lots of accessory and mudguards mounts, so you can turn it into a winter-proof commuter, or pack it up for a long tour. For maximum versitility, a 700c wheel will take up to 47mm but if you wanted to roll with 650b wheels, you can use a tyre up to 2.1″.
This aluminium model features a sturdy alloy frame and carbon fork which keeps weight respectable without limiting strength. A revised geometry keeps the bike steady and predictable off road, without being slow or dull on road. It’s a good balance of efficiency and fun, so no matter if you’re out for a quick hour’s ride or a dawn-til-dusk marathon, you’ll be comfortable on the Diverge. The SRAM Apex 1 groupset delivers low maintenance 1 x 11 super smooth gears and great reliability. Hydraulic disc brakes keep the speed in check and wide tyres give you grip on all surfaces. Specialized also include in this Diverge model their Future Shock 1.5 – an inbuilt suspension system at the headset that gives 20mm of dampened spring comfort. This reduces fatigue and increases speed and traction.Â
Some might say the do-it-all bike is a jack-of-all-trades, and master-of-none. We say, the Diverge keeps things simple: ride whatever you want, whenever you want, with the Diverge’s can-do attitude.
