Specialized Turbo Como 4.0 IGH – 2022 – Cast Black / Silver Reflective

The Turbo Como 4.0 is a city ebike designed for urban adventures and the rigours of day-to-day use. The frame has an incredibly low step-through design that makes it easy to mount or dismount. The upright riding position is comfortable and confidence-inspiring, allowing you to look over traffic and maintain control with ease.

The Turbo electric assist system can multiply your input effort by up to 4 times with a motor that kicks out 250W of power and 70Nm of torque. The battery has a 710Wh capacity which translates into a huge range of up to 100km. You can use the Mission Control app to monitor usage, record rides and configure the electronics to your heart’s content. It can be used to enable security features like the motor lock and proximity sensor. Or to configure power output by setting the desired range or ride time, among many other useful features.

Power is transmitted from your legs and the motor to the rear wheel via a Gates Carbon Drive CDX belt. Belt drive systems require next to no maintenance, so there’s no need for messy chain oil and all of the dirt that it attracts. They also have a greater lifespan, so you can go longer between services and spend more time riding your bike and less time waiting for it to be repaired. Shifting is taken care of by the Enviolo continuously variable planetary gear hub. This system is incredibly easy to use. There are no distinct gears, you just twist the shifter one way for higher torque and the other way for higher speed. This system is also totally sealed which makes it effectively maintenance-free. 

The chunky 2.3″ tyres have loads of grip and cushioning for a smooth ride on even the worst roads and hydraulic disc brakes provide reliable stopping power. Integrated lights keep you visible 24 hours a day, in all conditions and they’re connected to the main battery, so you don’t need to worry about charging them. Mudguards ensure that you stay clean and dry, even on winter roads.

Specialized has done an excellent job of putting together an easy-to-use, powerful and versatile bike. If you want an almost maintenance-free electric bike for commuting, hauling groceries or just having fun, then it would be hard to go wrong with the Turbo Como 4.0.
